Check LED luminescence with the IR converter (ROT and SOT)

Confirm that every ROT- and SOT-side communication LED in the gantry's optical data link is actually emitting light, by viewing each one — through an IR converter that turns its invisible infrared glow into visible red — first with the rotation section aligned to a notch, then rotated 45° to sweep the rest, and finally on the stationary side.

Applies to
Aquilion 16 (TSX-101A) — gantry data-transfer (MUDAT) volume 2D201-059, section 5.4 ("Procedure for Checking the Luminescence"), covering both the ROT side (rotation-section optical transmission PWBs, LPBA) and the SOT side (stationary-section optical transmission PWBs, LPBM).
Personnel
1 technician · Basic — a visual check using a dedicated IR converter tool: release the brake, manually rotate the gantry rotation section between look-points, remove a connector cover, and look for red light through the converter. Source gives no torque values, connector designators, or fastener counts for this section (skill assessment derived from procedure content — not an OEM-stated skill level).

Safety

DANGER

Hazard: Hazardous voltage in the LCSR (slip ring section) and brush section — removing the rear dome cover, or turning gantry power ON while it is removed.

Consequence: Electric shock.

Avoidance: Do not remove the rear dome cover. If it is necessary to remove the rear dome cover, turn OFF the breaker before mounting/removing it. Do not turn ON the power of the gantry when the rear dome cover is removed.

WARNING

Hazard: Inadvertent gantry rotation during servicing work.

Consequence: (not detailed further in source beyond worker injury from unexpected rotation)

Avoidance: Use the cover switch, NFB120, rotation lock pins, etc. to prevent inadvertent gantry rotation during servicing work in order to ensure safety of the workers.

NOTICE

Hazard: Manually rotating the rotation section without releasing the brake; source labels this call-out "CAUTION" — reclassified NOTICE here as an equipment-only outcome (same reclassification already applied in this volume's grouped safety-precautions atom).

Consequence: May result in system malfunction.

Avoidance: When rotating the rotation section manually, be sure to release the brake before rotating the rotation section.

NOTICE

Hazard: Replacing or checking parts that can be damaged by static electricity, such as PWBs or hard disks, without wearing an antistatic wristband; source labels this call-out "CAUTION" — reclassified NOTICE here as an equipment-only outcome (same reclassification already applied in this volume's grouped safety-precautions atom).

Consequence: (not stated in source beyond damage to static-sensitive components)

Avoidance: When replacing or checking parts that can be damaged by static electricity, such as PWBs or hard disks, be sure to wear an antistatic wristband.
