Operational checks of gantry, couch, detector and X-ray tube

Confirm the gantry, patient couch, detector and X-ray tube all operate to standard — working through the operating panel, the KGTSM maintenance panel, the footswitch, an optical data-transmission check, an emergency couch-release check, a detector-temperature check, and an X-ray tube warm-up/seasoning/voltage-current check — before moving on to the phantom and test-scan checks that follow.

Applies to
Aquilion 16 (TSX-101A) — installation volume 2C201-160, Sections 13 through 15 ("Operational Checks of the Gantry and the Patient Couch," "Checking the Detector," "Operational Check and Adjustment of the X-ray Tube"), p.122-127. Runs immediately after the couch is secured, the footswitches installed, and the height indicator calibrated (Section 12.7-12.10, p.117-121), and immediately before the phantom-position check, first test scan and X-ray tube alignment that follow (Sections 16-18, p.128-131).
Personnel
Intermediate — covers five distinct kinds of check: reading gantry/couch/projector behavior off the operating panel and the KGTSM PWB maintenance panel (Sections 13.1-13.3); a GCIFA PWB switch/LED procedure that clears and re-verifies optical data-transmission errors across multiple gantry rotations using the test rotor (Section 13.4); a mechanical release-lever check for the couch's manual emergency movement (Section 13.5); reading a detector temperature controller against a narrow tolerance and knowing when to replace the thermoregulator (Section 14.1); and, for the X-ray tube, a warm-up/rotor check, a remote If-adjustment pointer via a PC connected to the XC, tube seasoning through the S-CON Engineering menu, and a storage-oscilloscope voltage/current measurement at XC test points that requires clearing the CT room before exposure (Sections 15.1-15.4). Safety

CAUTION

Hazard: Performing the X-ray exposure needed for the tube-voltage/tube-current check (Step 10 below) while a worker remains inside the CT room

Consequence: Unnecessary X-ray exposure to that worker (source states no further detail on dose or injury)

Avoidance: After setting up the storage oscilloscope, exit the CT room and confirm that no person is in the CT room before performing the exposure
