Align the slip-ring brush assemblies
During installation, seat each large-current slip ring (LCSR) brush's contact point on its ring — loosen the brush assembly's mounting bolts, insert the alignment jig against the slipring between channels 2 and 3, retorque the four mounting bolts to 4.4 N·m, then verify no displacement — per section 5.6.2 ("Brush alignment") of the Installation volume, the step that immediately follows LCSR cleaning (section 5.6.1) in the gantry bring-up sequence.

Safety
Hazard: A brush that has worn unevenly can develop a step-like projection where it lost contact with the ring across the center surface
Consequence: Short circuit
Avoidance: If such a brush is found, remove the projection with a cutter so the brush surface is even before performing brush alignment
Hazard: Correcting an unevenly worn or burred brush with sandpaper instead of a cutter — grains can remain on the ring or brush. Source labels this call-out CAUTION; reclassified NOTICE here because the stated consequence (abnormal brush wear) is an equipment/procedure-quality outcome, not personal injury
Consequence: Abnormal wear of the brushes
Avoidance: Remove unevenness or burrs using a cutter; never use sandpaper on the brushes
