Initialize the image disk (via supplied CD-ROM or Windows Disk Manager)
Two independent, source-defined methods reinitialize the Aquilion 16 image disk — boot the supplied CD-ROM (No.1) through a system-disk-skip / image-disk-extract sequence, or reformat the Image (E:) volume by hand from Windows Disk Manager in Safe Mode — and both close out with the same power-cycle-and-confirm-empty-directories check.
Applies to
Aquilion 16 (TSX-101A) — system software volume 2D260-074E*B, Appendix A.2 "Image Disk Initialization Methods," source p.184-192. Covers both methods source itself lists for initializing the image disk: A.2.1, using the supplied CD-ROM (No.1) (p.184-189); and A.2.2, using Windows Disk Manager (p.190-192). Does not cover the step-by-step system software install this appendix is referenced from (source section 9.2.3; see Related, toshiba-ct-aquilion16-software-install-system-software), nor which of the three top-level install methods (1/2/3) calls for image-disk initialization in the first place — that choice is covered in toshiba-ct-aquilion16-software-install-overview-methods (Related; its own Method 1 is the one that initializes both the system disk and the image disk).
Personnel
Intermediate — BIOS boot-menu interruption and CD-ROM boot sequencing, Windows 2000 Safe Mode startup, Disk Management partition formatting, and console commands (chkconfig, ChangeDriveAfter.exe); no board-level hardware work. Getting the boot-time key presses and the Cancel/Continue choices out of order in Method A.2.1 changes which disk gets initialized, so sequence discipline matters more than any single command's difficulty (skill assessment derived from procedure content — not an OEM-stated skill level).
