Maintain and inspect the clutch/brake assembly

Perform this dry-type clutch/brake assembly's periodic maintenance checks, and — if the clutch or brake slips, won't operate normally, overheats, or doesn't operate at all — work through the matching inspection checklist below before deciding whether the assembly needs to go back to Nasu Operations.

Applies to
Aquilion 16 (TSX-101A) — patient couch clutch/brake assembly (VEP 0.6-01), source volume 2D201-062
Personnel
1 technician · Intermediate — routine visual/mechanical check of a dry-type clutch/brake assembly (contamination, bolt tightness) plus measuring energizing voltage, manual-operation force, and temperature against the source's pass/fail thresholds, and recognizing when to stop and return the assembly to Nasu Operations rather than servicing it further in the field (skill assessment derived from procedure content — not an OEM-stated skill level)

Safety

NOTICE

Hazard: Clutch friction-surface wear increasing the clearance between the armature assembly and the rotor assembly beyond 0.5 mm

Consequence: Operation failure or suction failure of the clutch/brake assembly (equipment/operation only — no injury stated in source)

Avoidance: Check the clearance during inspection. If it exceeds 0.5 mm, do not continue to run the assembly or attempt to service the clearance in the field — return the clutch/brake assembly (VEP 0.6-01) to Nasu Operations.

NOTICE

Hazard: Excessive force applied to the brake release lever while using it to release the brake after a power failure or electrical problem

Consequence: The release lever is deformed or damaged and the brake can no longer be released with it (equipment only — no injury stated in source)

Avoidance: Do not apply an excessive force to the release lever. Before turning the system power back ON, confirm that no force is still applied to the release lever.
