Replace the REF detector

The REF (reference) detector sits behind the leakage beam shielding plate. On systems with the small-focus X-ray tube (CXB-400C), reaching it means first clearing the optical system shielding cover, the optical system (slit/wedge), and the X-ray tube out of the way. The REF detector itself is a high-precision part — handle it with care throughout.

Applies to
Activion16 (TSX-031A). Applies identically to both DAS hardware generations documented in this manual: CDAS-035A/1A (§2.9.4, pp.211-214) and CDAS-035A/2A (§2.17.4, pp.305-308) — the source prints the same procedure, word-for-word, in both places, so one atom covers both. Systems with the small-focus X-ray tube (CXB-400C) require the optical system shielding cover, the optical system (slit/wedge), and the X-ray tube to be removed first.

Safety

CAUTION

Hazard: Touching the optical-system shield-cover drive motor while removing the front cover

Consequence: Burn injury — the motor is hot

Avoidance: Do not touch this motor

NOTICE

Hazard: Mishandling the REF detector during removal or remounting (it is a high-precision part)

Consequence: Damage to the REF detector (equipment damage only — no injury is stated in source for this item)

Avoidance: Handle the REF detector with care throughout removal and remounting
