Replace disk array units (BSX74-2035E) — disk drive, power supply, and fan units

Remove and install the field-replaceable sub-units of the BSX74-2035E raw data disk array (RDD) in the console REC BOX: the disk drive unit, the power supply unit, and either fan unit (FAN1/FAN2) — each accessed and serviced independently via its own carrier or screws. This task covers the mechanical R&R steps only; for the array's outline, specifications, internal daisy-chain wiring, LED status t

Applies to
Activion16 (TSX-031A), REC BOX raw data disk array (RDD), BSX74-2035E variant. Mechanically identical carrier-based R&R procedure to the BSX74-1900E variant (see Related) except the power supply unit occupies slot PS1 here (source §4.6.9.5); the 'PS0 on the 1900E' contrast is drawn from the sibling 1900E atom, not from this section's source. Does not cover the third documented RDD variant (Avid/Medea JBOD, §4.6.10), which uses a front-panel-removal + carrier-screw-and-lever technique instead of this carrier-handle mechanism.

Safety

NOTICE

Hazard: Subjecting the disk drive unit to shock while it is removed or inserted

Consequence: Equipment damage — the disk drive is particularly sensitive to shock; source gives no personal-injury language for this precaution

Avoidance: Handle the disk drive unit (and power supply unit) without shock throughout removal and insertion

NOTICE

Hazard: Changing the slot arrangement of the disks (e.g., swapping order during service) without recording which slot a disk came from, then reusing that disk

Consequence: The stored data on the disk array becomes invalid if the arrangement of the disks changes

Avoidance: Before removing a disk you intend to reuse, write down the number of the slot it was set in, so it can be remounted in the correct slot
