Replace disk drive, power supply, or fan units in the BSX74-1900E raw data disk array

Remove and install the field-replaceable disk drive units, the power supply unit, and the fan units of the BSX74-1900E raw data disk array (RDD) — the JBOD dual-loop fiber-channel array that stores raw scan data, reconstruction functions, and correction data sets for the console.

Applies to
Activion16 (TSX-031A). Covers the raw data disk array (RDD) unit assembly BSX74-1900E only — its disk drive units, its power supply unit (bay PS0), and its two fan units. The mechanically-identical sibling procedure for the BSX74-2035E variant (power supply in bay PS1 instead, per §4.6.9 — cross-ref, not stated in §4.6.8) is a separate atom — see Related.

Safety

NOTICE

Hazard: Subjecting the disk drive unit or power supply unit to shock while it is being removed or inserted (Precautions, p.463) — source specifically calls out the disk drive as particularly shock-sensitive

Consequence: Equipment damage to the shock-sensitive disk drive unit; source gives no personal-injury language for this step

Avoidance: Do not subject the unit to shocks during removal or insertion

NOTICE

Hazard: Reinstalling a removed disk drive unit in a different numbered slot than the one it was removed from

Consequence: The stored data becomes invalid if the arrangement of the disks changes

Avoidance: Before removing a disk drive unit that will be reused, write down the number of the slot it came from, so it can be remounted in the same slot
