Run the independent MHR PWB test from an RTM terminal (diagnostics)
Use this page to run the independent MHR PWB test -- printed in source as "diagnostics" -- a stand-alone test program started from the RTM using a terminal computer, used to check the basic functions of one MHR PWB at a time (MHR-DP, MHR2-FC, or MHR-BP) and identify a defective board. This is a different tool from the console-based hwtest malfunction diagnosis program (see Related) -- hwtest start
Safety
Hazard: Leaving JP2 and JP3 shorted at the 1-2 position after completing a serial-number change
Consequence: the MHR PWB is left outside its normal factory-shorted (2-3) configuration
Avoidance: after entering the new serial number, return both JP2 and JP3 short pins to the 2-3 position
Hazard: Using the serial-number-change procedure to alter a serial number already written to the PWB's flash ROM when it shipped from the factory
Consequence: n/a in source beyond the instruction itself; (derived - not in source) would overwrite the factory-assigned serial identity printed on the PWB's own barcode label
Avoidance: do not change the serial numbers (identical to the number rewritten on the PWB's barcode label) that were rewritten when shipped from the factory
Hazard: Running the independent PWB test without following the printed shutdown sequence afterward
Consequence: the scan system console is left in a failed-startup state and the image display system console is left waiting for it -- the system is not usable normally
Avoidance: from the console/winterm window of the scan system console enter X: / ScanSysEnd / EndFSYS / halt, then start up and independently shut down the image display system console from the "Engineering" menu
