Replace the couch horizontal (longitudinal) drive unit
Remove and replace the horizontal drive unit — the assembly that drives the couch top's IN/OUT travel, and which Step 5's own text also calls the longitudinal movement drive unit (see Related: longitudinal-drive theory, for the M11 motor / clutch brake / belt train this replaces). This task also covers replacing the servo amplifier (Step 6), which shares the same access covers as the drive-unit re

Safety
Hazard: Starting this procedure without isolating power at the distribution board
Consequence: Electric shock, or unexpected couch-drive motion, while disconnecting cables from the drive unit (Step 3) or the servo amplifier (Step 6b), or while removing the drive unit / servo amplifier itself
Avoidance: Turn OFF system power at the distribution board (safety library G-W01) before starting any part of this procedure
Hazard: The horizontal drive unit weighs approximately 20 kg and can fall once its 4-M8 mounting screws are freed (Step 4)
Consequence: The drive unit can fall accidentally during removal
Avoidance: Place the drive unit on a suitable support, such as a chair, as it comes free
Hazard: Bending the belt once it is off the belt fixing plate (Step 2)
Consequence: The belt will not function normally if bent — it contains fiber
Avoidance: Do not bend the belt; handle it carefully once removed
Hazard: Applying excessive force to the brake release lever while installing the brake release lever handle (Step 5)
Consequence: The brake release lever may be damaged
Avoidance: Install the brake release lever handle onto the lever without forcing it
