Recover from a Failed Upgrade — Emergency Software Installation (Printer in "Error - System Failure")
When a DryStar 5300 hangs showing "Error - System Failure" for more than 10 minutes during a SW 2.0.0_C1 upgrade, build an emergency-install CF card at the Service PC and reinstall the printer's software from it — a process that reformats the internal CF card — choosing at the local keypad whether to preserve the printer's existing configuration or let it return to factory defaults.
Safety
Hazard: Some of the printer's boards get re-programmed during the emergency software upgrade.
Consequence: If that board re-programming is interrupted by a power loss, the specific board involved may become unusable.
Avoidance: Do not reboot the printer before requested to by a local keypad message.
