MOD will only attach if the media is in the drive on boot up.

MOD drive failure.

Symptom

MOD will only attach if the media is in the drive on boot up. Attach will fail on any other attempt see long description for more details on this issue The system is an LX system running 9.1 M4 software and a SONY SMO-F551 MOD drive. The system will attach a MOD media on boot up if media is in the drive. If the drive is empty on boot, attach will fail with "no media in the drive" error. Additionally if they have a media in the drive on boot and it successfully attaches, they can save fine, but when the Customer detaches that media and tries to attach another, the attach fails with "no media in the drive". They can reboot and the system will then attach the media that it just failed to attach, but again if they detach that media and try to attach another, it fails with "no media in the drive". This is very reproducible. Checked the configs for archive in ~sdc/app-defaults/archive directory. The SONY driver files are there and SCSI.fol looks good. The FE had already tried install.mod to update these config's with no success. lx-mr 1# su - sdc {sdc@lx-mr}[1] scsistat Device 0 1 Disk SGI IBM DNES-309170Y FW Rev: SA30 Device 1 3 CD-ROM TEAC CD-ROM CD-532S FW Rev: 1.0A Device 1 4 Optical SONY SMO-F551-SD FW Rev: 1.04 Device 2 1 Disk ANALOGIC DASM-LCAM-3M FW Rev: 1.5 Device 2 4 Comm CenData ST-1008S FW Rev: V7.2
