Disclosure to Third Parties Prohibited. Subject: Intermittent ROTMI Calculation Errors Seen at Download And Recommended Customer Workaround. Effectivity: All Signa 1.5T and 3.0T MR Systems operating with 11.0M4 SP1, 12.0M5 SP2, 14.0M4 SP1, and 14.0 SP2. Problem: Sites have reported intermittent ROTMI calculation errors at download time for specific pulse sequences. The following error message is logged in the gesys log: "Rotmi Calculation Error found during Download". This error text corresponds to error codes 2218692 (14.0 platform), 2218717 (12.0 platform), and 2218674 (11.0 platform). This issue primarily occurs on Radial and MSMA prescriptions. In 2006 a potential safety issue was reported and, to prevent scanning after a geometric calculation error, a download failure that resulted in an error message stating, "Rotmi Calculation Error found during Download" was introduced. Unfortunately, this fix used too broad of a detection for radial prescriptions. Resolution: When a ROTMI error occurs the workaround is to force a recalculation using very slightly different locations that cover the same anatomy. Do not simply reuse the failing graphic prescription. Ask the customer to perform these steps: View-Edit the current Series which has the download failure. On the GRx window, select the slices. Click [Erase Selected]. Re-prescribe the graphic prescription. Do not use Copy-Rx. Do not copy/paste the GRx prescription. Do not use Copy-Series or Paste-GRx from the series which had the download failure. A new version of the preventive fix, which more precisely detects an error, is in validation at this time and will be released as soon as possible. Field Engineers and Apps Specialists : Notify the site and advise of the above workaround. Verify that the workaround is being implemented correctly.
