Gradient Data Overrange Errors Alone Do Not Indicate A Gradient or System Hardware Problem. See Long Description. SMILe 2/27/2007 This information is Property of GE Healthcare - For GE Healthcare Service Personnel Only. Disclosure to Third Parties Prohibited . Subject: "Gradient Data Overrange" Errors Alone Do Not Indicate A Gradient or System Hardware Problem. Effectivity: All 1.5T and 3.0T Signa LX, EXCITE, HD, HDx, G3, and E2 systems functioning with ACGD, HFD, and HFD-S Gradient Amplifiers. Problem Description: Some FEs have replaced gradient hardware in response to intermittent errors appearing in the error log indicating 'Gradient Overrange Occurred'. This error does not indicate a hardware problem since it is referring to the processing of the incoming gradient data to the GP. Errors such as 2250080, 2250081, 2250082, 2251060, 2251061, and 2251062 fall into this category and generally appear as shown below: "X, Y, Z Axis Gradient Data Overrange Occured. The GP detected an error in the incoming High Speed Data from the IPG. Swap fiber optics at the Systems Cabinet. Run fiber optic diagnostics." External Error Message = "Please check MRconfig.cfg file to determine the amplifier type, 8915 - ACGD, 8916 - HFD. ACGD Message: The GP detected an error in the incoming High Speed Data from the SRF. Swap fiber optics at the Systems Cabinet, and run fiber optic diagnostics. Refer to the Gradient Data Rollover fault if present. Else, if Overrange Fault occurs with specific PSD's, write a PQR. HFD Message: The GP detected an error in the incoming High Speed Data from the SRF, or an error in the gradient calibration file (gradient_tune.dat). Swap fiber optics at the Systems Cabinet, and run fiber optic diagnostics. Refer to the Gradient Data Rollover fault if present. Else, if Overrange Fault occurs with specific PSD's, write a PQR. Resolution: Gradient Overrange errors indicate an anomaly was detected at one point in the incoming data stream to the GP. Errors of this sort, by themselves, do not indicate a problem with system hardware or hardware inside the ACGD, HFD, or HFD-S Cabinet. Please do not replace gradient or system hardware based on "Gradient Overrange" errors alone unless these are accompanied by additional error messages. Please submit a PQR for sites where these errors are frequently seen alone and include as much detail as possible concerning the scan sequence that produces them. Engineering will use this information to minimize the occurrence of the error. There is an effort underway to modify the general error message to read as follows: "Overrange detected on gradient # axis." where # is X, Y, or Z. External Error Message="This condition is noncritical and should not affect image quality, unless accompanied by additional error messages. An occurrence of this type, unless accompanied by additional error messages, is not due to hardware fault. If this error occurs frequently, please submit a PQR describing the conditions under which the error occurs."
