Unable to Scan Using the USAI OpenSpeed MAGNA 5000 PHASED ARRAY CTL SPINE COIL, due to Multicoil Bias Fault Detected - Open Circuit error
Symptom
Unable to Scan Using the USAI OpenSpeed MAGNA 5000 PHASED ARRAY CTL SPINE COIL, due to Multicoil Bias Fault Detected - Open Circuit error. Happens with Coil Connected to Either Side of the Table. Unable to scan using the USAI OpenSpeed CTL SPINE COIL, due to Multicoil Bias Fault Detected - Open Circuit error code 2252301, always on "Channel 8 of 16". This happens on the first pulse of the prescan, it's a hard error. All other coils are working, but this is the only eight channel coil the site has. The FE has replaced the MSHS2, 8ch Switch, and the Driver Module, but this hasn't fixed the problem. He took the coil to another HFO5 site and it scanned okay over there. See Long Description. Note: You will notice there are head & body T/R faults logged with every one of the Multicoil Bias Faults. The Multicoil Bias Fault in this case is the only true error. This is expected to happen with any Excite system (this includes OpenSpeed with Excite) using both an SSM and a Driver Module. Since the SSM monitors Body/Head faults independent of the Driver Module (which monitors multicoil faults), any faults detected by the Driver Module can result in the Head/Body TR faults on the SSM. The Driver Module inhibits unblank and stops the scan faster than the SSM can detect it, which results in the fault detection by the SSM. The faults detected by the SSM in this case are most likely untrue. Troubleshoot and fix (or bypass) the Driver Module multicoil faults first, then if SSM faults still occur, troubleshoot and fix them next. An open circuit fault occurs when the actual value is less than the pre-defined limit. Check system cables, connectors, coils and configurations. Re-seat all coil connectors. The mask of all failed channels indicates additional channels with the same fault - convert the hex number to a bitmap to decipher the mask, with channel 1 indicated by the least significant bit and channel 16 indicated by the most significant bit.
