See Resolution concept for the complete SMILe released 8/29/06 Subject: Muliticoil SNR Tool May Report Passing Results Even Though Array Contains Failed Coil. Effectivity: All Signa EXCITE (11.X) and HD (12.0) 1.5T and 3T MR Systems. Problem: Customer complained of poor image quality when using a particular multicoil but Multicoil SNR Tool reported passing results. FE manually reviewed all the images from individual coils collected by tool and found one particular coil in array exhibited extremely low signal. Multicoil SNR Tool analyzes composite image to determine coil SNR. In certain coils unusually good signal from functioning coils in the array might mask poor signal from a single failing coil. In some instances this could result in a composite image that passes Multicoil SNR Tool analysis even though one of the coils in the array is not working.
