Is an Isolation Transformer required between the MDP and TCU on Profile 5?
Symptom
Is an Isolation Transformer required between the MDP and TCU on Profile 5? Installation diagrams do not illustrate the 3kva transformer. Profile 1-4 sites with 208vac 3-phase power require it to be installed because TCU power came directly from the MDP which is a violation of NEC code. Profile 1-4 sites with 480vac 3-phase did not require the 3kva isolation transformer because the 480 was stepped down in the PDU transformer (isolation) in the IPS Cabinet to 200vac and the TCU power came from the IPS, not the MDP.
