How to tell if your detector is PKI or CRD. Loading the incorrect software will cause the system to not operate normal. Need to identify if the detector is a PKI or CRD. See long description for further informations on association between detector manufacturer and firmware to be used. PKI or GRC manufacturer is given by the prefix letters of the detector S/N. PKI : S/N starts with ECxxxx or EZxxxx GRC : S/N starts with PCxxxx Innova detector manufacturing history In recent years (since late 2006) all detector high level assembly has been moved to PKI. The GRC fab continues to provide some light imagers, so there are detectors in the field with the "PC" prefix in the S/N and PKI listed as the manufacturer on the part ID label. For Innova 2000 systems (detector part number 2270465 on the CDRH label), the detector FW should be matched with the S/N prefix. PCxxx should use firmware part 2299934-3. ECxxx should use 2299934-4. For Innova 2100 systems (detector part number 5127984 on the CDRH label), things have changed after the SPAD (Biplane) program. During SPAD, PKI worked to match the performance of their "Zenith" light imager to the performance of the GRC "Zenith" light imager, such that we could have one detector FW release at system level. In addition PKI agreed to replace the imager panel in older repair units if performance requirements were not met with the SPAD firmware release. As a result, all new 2100 detectors built after the SPAD program plus all 2100 detectors repaired after the SPAD program (~May 2007) should use the same FW regardless of the prefix in the S/N. For Unity compatibility, all repaired detectors are shipped with a copy of the detector firmware on a CD, part 2299934-5 (this is the same firmware as CD part 5134871). Older (pre SPAD) Innova 2100 systems that are still running their original detector, should match the detector firmware with the S/N prefix as follows. PCxxx should use firmware part 2299934-5. EZxxx should use 2299934-6. One thing to keep in mind The actual detector firmware executable in these releases is the same and any detector will function with any firmware. The differences are in readout configuration parameters which match A/D conversion to the specific imager panel to minimize pixel defects (bad pixels). Running the wrong firmware on a given detector may cause more bad pixels to be present, possibly causing a failure of bad pixel calibration, but it should never prevent the detector from booting or communicating with the system. If the serial number starts with PC, then you have a CRD type of detector. If the serial number starts with EC or EZ, then you have a PKI type of detector. Regarding firmware to be downloaded: For Innova 2000 systems , PCxxx should use firmware part 2299934-3. ECxxx should use 2299934-4. For Innova 2100 systems: If manufactured or repaired after May 2007 (from Spad program and next programs), there is no need to download the firmware. For Unity compatibility, all repaired detectors after May 2007 are shipped with a copy of the detector firmware on a CD, part 2299934-5 (this is the same firmware as CD part 5134871). When a fw download is requested, this firmware has to be used. If manufactured before May 2007 (Before Spad program), PCxxx should use firmware part 2299934-5. EZxxx should use 2299934-6. Also on Innova 2000: the CRD detector has a part number of 2232205 the PKI detector has a part number of 2232205-2
