Patient Fall risk.
Symptom
Omega, Unexpected table rotation or rotational Lock is not working. See FMI 12137 Omega IV and Omega V tables may experience an unexpected table rotation during patient transfer due to rotational table brakes slippage. FMI 12137 Dated 1/2010 Lost of voltage on lock will kept the on. Voltage is to remove the brake or hold of the lock. Omega IV and Omega V tables may experience an unexpected table rotation during patient transfer due to rotational table brakes slippage. Lost of voltage on lock will kept the on. Voltage is to remove the brake or hold of the lock. Table top rotation lock not holding. FMI 12137 Dated 1/2010, for all Omega 4 &5 DOC, DOC0683423, Rev:2 PURPOSE / HISTORY This FMI is generated to fix Complaint 13238255 (Master). Omega IV and Omega V tables may experience an unexpected table rotation during patient transfer due to rotational table brakes slippage. This event is most likely to occur when patient is transferring himself from the bed to the table, leading to a potential patient fall. Products labelling specifies that when loading and unloading the patient onto the table, table top should be maintained in order to ensure it does not move. The omega table rotation brakes need to comply to 2 contradictory specifications: 1) Brakes should be strong enough to hold table and avoid unexpected rotation when locked. 2) Brakes should be weak enough to slip allowing to disengage patient if a CPR required while power is off. Investigation showed that table rotation torque specs should be increased from 26.5 to 38.7 daN.m.
