SN4850 Innova; brass x-ray tube water coupling premature locking any rotation SN4850 Innova; brass coupling lockup Rev. 2 5330965-8EN PURPOSE/SYMPTOM A premature locking of the water coupling rotation can occur, leading to a water leakage in the Carc sleeve (see illustration below). RP Rotating Gasket part number 2184070-2 The addition of the stiffener rod has compounded the failure of the water coupling (2184070-2 “RP ROTATING GASKET”). In order to prevent this problem from happening, the stiffener has been removed on Monoplane and Biplane forward production. In order to prevent this problem from happening, the stiffener has been removed on Monoplane and Biplane forward production. This has been implemented on 24-Oct-2008 in Buc Mfg. Note: For Biplane, an OM addendum was added to describe how the lateral plane must be parked. This is to avoid the situation where the C-arc sleeve sags into an S Shape & prevents the parking of the lateral plane. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. If you are installing a brand new system, you need to check if the stiffener is present and if your system has the brass rotating joint (pn 2184070-2). If you have both parts together, the stiffener has to be removed; and both swivel elbows changed, depending on elbow version (see paragraph “inspection of elbow version”) 2. The stiffener rod shall NOT be installed on Innova x100 and X1X1 systems manufactured after Oct –24-2008 that are equipped with the water coupling (2184070-2 “RP ROTATING GASKET”). Note: This Service Note will apply to some Innova X100 systems manufactured prior to Nov 2007 that have been field upgraded with the stiffener rod 3. The stiffener shall be removed during a replacement of the water coupling (2184070-2 “RP ROTATING GASKET”). The stiffener has to be removed, and both swivel elbows changed, depending on elbow version (see paragraph “inspection of elbow version”)
