System Does Not Recognize the MOD nor the DVD Drive.
Symptom
System Does Not Recognize the MOD nor the DVD Drive See Long Description The system doesn't recognize or "see" the MOD nor DVD drives in the SCSI Tower. Those drive selections are now unavailable to the customer. This had been a working system. The FE found initially that the SCSI Tower power supply had failed. He found the 12 Volt output "low", he didn't say how low. So he replaced the SCSI Tower including MOD drive but although the power supply output is now okay the problem remains. The only error messages are found in /var/log/messages, as shown below. Mar 18 17:17:29 gemr kernel: scsi2 : Transceiver State Has Changed to LVD mode Mar 18 17:32:03 gemr kernel: scsi2 : Transceiver State Has Changed to SE mode Mar 18 17:32:03 gemr kernel: scsi2 : Someone reset channel A Running /usr/g/bin/scsistat reveals that the system doesn't "see" the scsi2 bus. The only buses shown in the output are the scsi0 and scsi1 buses on which the three system hard drives reside. On a working Excite HD system we should also see the scsi2 bus with its associated DVD and MOD drives attached, but here we do not. See below. /usr/g/bin/scsistat [Enter] Attached devices: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: FUJITSU Model: MAU3036NP Rev: HPF2 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00 Vendor: FUJITSU Model: MAU3036NP Rev: HPF2 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 02 Lun: 00 Vendor: FUJITSU Model: MAU3036NP Rev: HPF2 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03
