Spray or lines to almost a ring. If scanned Axial then the artifact has a pattern of several good then several bad images. I.E. If 8i then 4 good then 4 bad. If 32i then 16 good and then 16 bad. The artifact is only on the “A” side or “B” side images. If Helical then images vary in intensity of bad. They will go from slightly bad to very bad and then back to slightly bad with a period equal to the number of slices collected in each rotation. With some pitch angles you can have images that are artifact free. Artifact may vary in intensity as the mA is changed. The customer was getting a pattern of failure where the images were having streaks or lines in the images that sometimes went to almost a full ring. The tech was scanning a 3.275 helical run. The axial phantom image is an 8i x 5mm. There were no errors. Helical @ lung window Helical @ typical window Axial on a phantom
