Unable to Power SSM, the fans turn but No Lights. SCA Front Panel Display reads "FLT ACIN PHAS", and there are MDS, PAC, and SRI errors logged. See Long Description This is an HFO3 system. The SSM could not be powered up. The fans turn but there are no lights on the SSM. The SCA Front Panel Display reads "FLT ACIN PHAS", and there are MDS, PAC, and SRI errors logged on every TPS Reset attempt (see error log excerpt, below). The FE eliminated the emergency stop circuit as being the cause by removing the cable connector at J2 of the PDU control board, and shorting points 7 & 8 at that jack on the control board. This made no difference when hitting EMO Reset on the PDU, also there is never a "PDU in Stop Mode" error logged, so he discounted this as being a possibility. Next he checked the incoming power to the PDU and all three phases were fine. But when checking the 3-phase 208 volt AC input to the SSM he found something strange. Measuring between phases he expected to see 208 volts but between two phases he saw 90 volts, and between other phases he saw 56 volts, and etc. He then measured the phases at the Magnet Power Supply output receptacle on the PDU and they were fine. Checking the schematic for the Phoenix PDU in OpenSpeed Service Methods (Direction 2250758-1 Rev 2 June, 2003) --> Service Documentation --> OpenSpeed Power Cabinet --> PDU Subsystem --> page 14, link: http://3.87.118.28/optec3/common/07tdocs/pwrcab/pdu/2266541.pdf , it was evident that the SSM and Magnet Power Supply PDU output feeds are both sourced from the same transformer taps. Then why the difference? From the schematic, the SSM & Gradient feeds pass through contactor K1, whereas the Magnet Power Supply feed does not. With this knowledge the FE removed power to the PDU at the Main Disconnect, then opened the PDU's rear panel, located the K1 contactor and pushed on its actuator. It had been mechanically stuck. After restoring power to the PDU, all was well. Freeing the stuck actuator was enough to make it start working normally again. The FE will monitor it for any future incidents.
