A wide energy isotope is necessary for this calibration. Ba-133 has a long half-life, is available in a solid form, and most often used by service as the tool for this calibration. Ga-67 in a liquid form is available to most customers but has a much shorter half-life. Government regulations have limited the transportability of isotopes by service in some regions. Therefore, Ga-67 is the alternate wide energy isotope to be used when Ba-133 is not available.
