Diagnose gantry tilt faults — tilt disabled or noisy during tilt operation
Use this page when the gantry will not tilt, or when it tilts but makes abnormal noise while doing so. The tilt drive on this gantry is a power cylinder + motor assembly at the gantry base — most of the faults below trace back to that assembly, its microswitch, its connector/cable, or the mechanical parts around it (pillow block, gas spring, cover).

| Item | Part number | Qty |
|---|---|---|
| Power cylinder (tilt drive assembly — includes the tilt motor and solenoid brake) | n/a in source | |
| Tilt-position microswitch | n/a in source | |
| Tilt drive unit connector | n/a in source | |
| Transportation (shipping) jig | n/a in source | |
| Tilt drive interconnect cable | n/a in source | |
| Gas spring (tilt frame/cover assist) | n/a in source | |
| Pillow block (tilt bearing) unit | n/a in source | |
| Front cover (interference point) | n/a in source |
Safety
Hazard: Tilt drive commanded while you observe whether the motor rotates
Consequence: Crush / pinch injury to hands, clothing, or the couch if they are near the power cylinder, pillow block, or gantry frame when tilt moves
Avoidance: Clear hands, tools, and the couch from the tilt path before commanding tilt to run the check; keep a hand near the E-stop
Hazard: Stored mechanical energy in the gas spring and in a loaded power cylinder
Consequence: The gas spring or cylinder can move suddenly when disturbed, pinching fingers or striking the technician
Avoidance: Support the tilt frame/cover before disconnecting the gas spring or opening the power cylinder; never work under an unsupported tilt frame
Hazard: Commanding tilt with the transportation (shipping) jig still installed
Consequence: The jig blocks the mechanism and the drive can be damaged if it is run against it
Avoidance: Confirm the transportation jig is removed before testing or commanding tilt
