Replace the gantry optical system (slit/wedge assembly)

Remove the optical system — the combined slit and wedge filter assembly, mounted together with its base-plate on the front of the gantry's rotating base (see Related: X-ray beam control theory) — to replace it, or to gain access behind it. Source documents only the removal half of this task as a numbered procedure; no separate mount/reinstall subsection exists for it in this manual (unlike, e.g.,

Safety

CAUTION

Hazard: Touching the slit/wedge drive motor(s)

Consequence: Burn injury — the motor runs hot

Avoidance: Do not touch the motor (safety library G-CA15)

WARNING

Hazard: The optical system (slit/wedge assembly) is bolted to the gantry's rotating base

Consequence: Electric shock or injury from inadvertent gantry rotation while cables, sensors, motor connectors, or base-plate bolts are being removed

Avoidance: Complete Steps 2–3 — breaker NFB2 OFF, servo protector CP320 OFF — before separating cables or removing sensors/connectors/bolts (safety library G-D04 / G-W04 pattern)
