Operate the KGTSM maintenance panel

Use the KGTSM maintenance panel's built-in switch bank to run a single gantry/couch function directly on the bench — wedge, DAS test, slit, detector, tilt, test rotation, scanoscope, scan, projector lamp, couch slide, couch height, offset, slide idle/zero-clear, or rotor brake — without going through the operator panels or the console. This is the direct-hardware path used for service checks and a

Applies to
Activion16 (TSX-031A) gantry fitted with the KGTSM maintenance panel (physical switch bank SW1/SW11/SW12/SW21/SW31/SW32 and indicators LED66/LED67). A PC/Hyper Terminal equivalent exists (§3.5.3) and is covered in a separate atom.

Safety

NOTICE

Hazard: Panel switch SW1 set to ON

Consequence: the KGTSM maintenance panel takes exclusive control — the gantry/couch cannot be operated from the operator panels or from the console while SW1 is ON (functional interlock, no injury risk)

Avoidance: Treat SW1-ON as taking over normal control; return SW1 to PANEL OFF (Work procedure step 6) as soon as maintenance-panel work is finished (source §3.5.1 item 1)

NOTICE

Hazard: SW1 turned ON while the gantry or couch is already in motion

Consequence: the gantry or couch stops; the gantry stops rotating at the TUBE home position (tube position -15°)

Avoidance: Expect an abrupt stop at the TUBE home position if SW1 is switched ON during motion; do not toggle SW1 mid-motion unless that stop is intended (source §3.5.1 item 2)

NOTICE

Hazard: Slide-out movement commanded from the maintenance panel with the couch already closer to the OUT end than the OUT-2 position

Consequence: the couch slows down and stops, triggered by the built-in safety function

Avoidance: Anticipate the automatic slowdown/stop near OUT-2 when driving slide-out from the panel; do not mistake it for a malfunction (source §3.5.1 item 3)

NOTICE

Hazard: Panel switch SW1 turned OFF before the indicated/selected operation has terminated

Consequence: the operation in progress may be interrupted or left in an unintended state

Avoidance: Wait for the selected operation to finish before setting SW1 to PANEL OFF (source §3.5.1 item 5)

NOTICE

Hazard: PANEL switch (SW1) turned OFF before the SET switch (SW11) — and the SCAN switch (SW12), where used — is released

Consequence: per source footnote *2, the panel-off transition is not clean

Avoidance: Release SW11 (SET) and SW12 (SCAN) first, then set SW1 to PANEL OFF

NOTICE

Hazard: SW32 (FUNCTION SET) changed while a function selected on it is still being carried out

Consequence: unpredictable behavior of the function in progress (source footnote *1)

Avoidance: Do not change SW32 while its selected function is running

NOTICE

Hazard: KGTSM not reset after maintenance-panel use

Consequence: the system may remain in a maintenance-panel-influenced state

Avoidance: Always press RESET (SW21) or cycle power after finishing (Work procedure step 7; source §3.5.1 item 4 and footnote *3)
