Use the KGTSM maintenance mode from a PC terminal

The PC connected to the KGTSM can drive almost the same functions as the physical maintenance panel, but from a terminal session instead of the panel switches. This is the PC-terminal path into the same function/mode framework documented for the maintenance panel (see Related: maintenance-panel procedure).

Applies to
Activion16 (TSX-031A) gantry with KGTSM servo/motion control PWB. Requires a PC running a terminal emulator (Hyper Terminal or equivalent) and the GR-1 service cable connected to KGTSM connector CN404.

Safety

WARNING

Hazard: Commanding Test rotation (6), Scanogram position (7), or Gantry rotation (8) from the PC terminal and answering the 'Are you sure? Y/N?' prompt with Y

Consequence: the gantry starts operating (real motion) immediately on confirmation

Avoidance: confirm the area around the gantry/couch is clear of personnel and obstructions before entering Y at the confirmation prompt

NOTICE

Hazard: Quitting maintenance mode (q) without also setting the KGTSM panel switch (SW1) back upward (PANEL OFF)

Consequence: the KGTSM is not reset and is left outside its normal operating state

Avoidance: after entering q to quit maintenance mode, always set SW1 upward (PANEL OFF) to reset the KGTSM (§3.5.3.3 (4))
