Check the safety circuit on the KGTSM PWB

Verify that the KGTSM's stationary-section safety circuit — the circuit that cuts gantry-tilt, couch-vertical, and couch-horizontal power on a fault — actually works, that its internal timers time out correctly for each of the three motions, and that the couch-top slide runout detector locks the couch top and flags LED75 when the top is pushed past its allowed free travel. Do this as a functional

Applies to
Activion16 (TSX-031A) gantry with KGTSM servo/motion control PWB. Covers the stationary-section safety circuit backing gantry tilt, couch vertical movement, and couch horizontal (slide) movement, plus the couch-top slide runout detector. Requires a PC running Hyper Terminal and a service cable connected to KGTSM connector CN404.

Safety

CAUTION

Hazard: Disconnecting CN451 of the KGTSM PWB (source's own verbatim caution)

Consequence: Disconnecting CN451 turns OFF the power of the tilt motor, rotation servo system, couch, etc.; if the safety circuit is defective or if your operation was incorrect, the tilt, rotation motor, or couch may move

Avoidance: Disconnect CN451 of the KGTSM PWB before running the safety-circuit checks below, and keep it disconnected throughout the tilt / vertical-movement / horizontal-movement sub-checks

CAUTION

Hazard: Starting the safety-circuit checks without first confirming the area and the CN451 disconnection (source's own pre-check checklist, not itself labeled CAUTION but stating an electric-shock and crush hazard)

Consequence: a worker touching parts that may cause an electric shock, or a worker or object present at a location where they may be crushed, once CP1 power and commanded tilt/vertical/horizontal motion resume

Avoidance: Before starting inspection work, confirm no workers are touching parts that may cause an electric shock, confirm no workers (or objects) are present at a location where they may be crushed, and confirm CN451 on the KGTSM PWB is disconnected
