Low Voltage on the High Voltage SSM Supply.

Symptom

Unable to Scan with SSM HV Power Supply Low Errors. See long description. New install. Unable to do first scan, get one pulse in prescan and then get a "SSM HV power supply low" and an "inductive or direct drive fault. Both faults state possible shorted load. The FE did a diode check on the BCD1, BCD2, and DD drive lines at the rear of the SSM, and read diode on all. FE powered off the SSM and then powered back on and measured OL on the HV test point on the CPFD, and then after about 25 seconds the HV went to 6-7 volts and HVPS fault led lit on the SSM, this happens with or without the BCD1, BCD2, and DD cables connected. This was very repeatable. FE got into the SSM and found the HV would stay up if the HV line to the CPD was disconnected at J5 (red cable) and JP2 in on the HV board and monitoring at TP7 & TP4 on the HV board. Also found a chip on the SSM which had a hole burned through it (don't know the location of this chip). With all of this we have concluded that the CPD is likely the problem. The SSM is the FRU on Excite systems. FE to order the SSM.
