Precision 500D Image Display or PACS

Symptom

P500D Images on PACS sometimes or always appear different than same images on system. See long description: Typically, the Radiologist or Technologist will complain that the image quality is bad on the PACS or review workstation. The images may display darker or brighter and/or with more or less contrast. Any combination of different brightness or contrast is possible. Several possible root causes may exist. · PACS monitor(s) is not calibrated · Precision 500d monitor(s) is not calibrated · PACS does not support unprocessed (raw) images from Precision 500d that contain the value-of-interest look-up-table, VOI-LUT (DICOM tag 0028x3010). Some PACS systems do not support the VOI-LUT tag module. · PACS applies a different look-up-table (LUT) than expected · PACS applies an automatic calculation of WW and WL · PACS displays images with WW of 512 instead of 1024 Issues with image display on PACS are frequent (>50% of all systems). The problems can differ depending on the PACS system, PACS software version, etc."
