Genesis Console's Touch Screen's Primer Bars are always on, "soft keys" are "dotted" and unresponsive
Symptom
Genesis Console Touch Screen's Primer Bars are always on, soft keys are dotted and unresponsive See Long Description The two orange "primer bars" on either side of the Touch Screen, which is commonly known as the "plasma screen" are always on, and all of the "soft keys" on the Touch Screen are dotted and unresponsive. But the text functions of the boot side of the screen, accessed by holding the [L1] and "b" keys simultaneously, are working. The boot screen functions are handled by the GAI board in the Genesis computer. The primer bars are supposed to illuminate, and then extinguish, during the Touch Screen powerup process, which indicates a successful Touch Screen powerup. Since the bars remained on, we assumed the Touch Screen failed powerup. We checked the Genesis console's power supplies, and all had correct output. Removing the bezel over the Touch Screen, and cleaning its face and all edges didn't change anything. The Touch Screen was ordered, and replaced, but there was no change in symptoms.
