LightSpeed 4.X - GRE
Symptom
Scanner fails to boot to applications, Unable to verify DARC system startup. The system will not boot up to applications with a pink attention box: Unable to verify system functionality on startup. Please power cycle the console. If the system fails to startup after the power cycle, then please call GE Service. FE or OLE sees that they can telnet to the DARC but they cannot ping or rsh with the DARC. If the DARC is observed while booting, Drive X adapter X predicting future failure Press any key to continue is seen.
Error message
/dev/md0: not enough valid hard drives - bus0(#), bus1(#) /dev/md0: unable to create a new disk array See long description for details For GRE systems with DARC I or DARC II When logged into the DARC as root and trying to query the SDDA Scan Disks, you get the errors below: cd /usr/g/bin ./gre-raid –q /dev/md0: not enough valid hard drives - bus0(1), bus1(0) /dev/md0: unable to create a new disk array When attempting to create a new disk array partition it also failed with not enough drives found: logged in as root rsh darc cd /usr/g/bin ./gre-raid –c -z The error messages below indicate a bad SDDA disk drive: /dev/md0: not enough valid hard drives - bus0(1), bus1(0) /dev/md0: unable to create a new disk array RAID-0 active with (2) drives, 256k chunk size, and 69GB capacity 35.6MB/sec...min performance failed. Note that bus0 sees the drive but bus1 does not!
