Orientation of the MIP (maximum intensity projection) image is misrepresented when displayed on other devices capable of viewing DICOM images.
Symptom
Orientation of the MIP (maximum intensity projection) image is misrepresented when displayed on other devices capable of viewing DICOM images. When displaying a rotating MIP image on a PACS or other DICOM viewer, the system displays a sequence of images as they transition from one orientation to the next as expected, but the orientation overlay (if displayed) does not change from one view to the next (the MIP image "spins" but the orientation flags do not change). If the MIP images are displayed statically you will notice that the orientation (if displayed) is identical on each image.
